Bordeaux 2020_Brochure

83. Pastourelle de Clerc Milon, Pauillac “The 2020 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is fabulous. Rich, ample and explosive, the 2020 packs a huge punch. A rush of inky dark red/ purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, spice and mocha builds as this sumptuous Pauillac shows off its immense charm. Merlot takes the leading role. This is a ridiculously gorgeous second wine. Best of all, this should be a tremendous value. Drinking Window: 2023 - 2030.” 93 pts, Vinous 357789 $90 84. Château Pavie Macquin, St-Émilion Grand Cru “The 2020 Pavie Macquin is sensational. Rich, dark and explosive, the 2020 balances the natural richness that is such a signature of the estate with a level of energy and vibrancy I have not seen here in the recent past. The result is a towering, imposing Pavie Macquin that hugely delivers. In this vintage, regisseur Nicolas Thienpont did not use the Cabernet Sauvignon, so the blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc lending aromatic presence, energy and depth. What a total knock out! Drinking Window: 2028 - 2045.” $175 85. Petit-Figeac, St-Émilion Grand Cru “A blend of 71% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 Petit-Figeac offers up aromas of dark berries, black truffle, loamy soil and cigar wrapper. Medium to full-bodied, layered and sapid, it’s deep and elegant, with refined tannins and a penetrating finish. Drink Date: 2025 - 2045.” 91 pts, Wine Advocate 347354, 457546 $125 86. Le Petit Cheval, St-Émilion Grand Cru “I wrote in my note on the 2020 Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval that this is “one hell of a second wine,” and it has a kiss of the elegance and complexity found in the top cuvée. Black fruits, roasted herbs, graphite, and scorched earth notes all emerge from this ruby/purple- hued beauty, which has medium to full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It will drink nicely for 15+ years.” 95 pts, Jeb Dunnuck 362225 $475 100 pts, Vinous 347258, 362614
