79. Château Nénin, Pomerol “An estate that seems to have hit new heights as of late, the 2020 Chateau Nenin is another beautiful, ripe, yet balanced and elegant wine from this chateau. Ripe black cherries, hints of cassis, leafy herbs, chocolate, and earth all define the aromatics, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with fine, integrated tannins and a great finish. I like it today, but this has two decades of prime drinking ahead of it. Best After 2024.” 96 pts, Jeb Dunnuck 362668, 371805 $150 80. Château Olivier, Pessac‑Léognan “Lots of red and black currants, loamy earth, leather, and dried herb notes emerge from the 2020 Chateau Olivier, a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, textured 2020 with some serious charm. I love its balance, and it’s complex, with ripe, velvety tannins and a great finish. Drink this beauty over the coming 15 years. Best After 2023.” 92 pts, Jeb Dunnuck 362638 $75 81. Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe “Spicy redcurrants with dark chocolate, as well as bark and black tea on the nose. Full-bodied with firm and fine tannins that are nicely velvet in texture. Delicious and savory finish. Needs four or five years to come together. Best after 2026.” 93 pts, James Suckling 347275, 362726 $95 82. Château Le Pape, Pessac‑Léognan “The 2020 Le Pape is generous, dark, rich and inviting. Black cherry, very elegant, nuanced and charming. Dark cherry, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and dried herbs are nicely delineated. Le Pape is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. In this vintage it is especially refined and vibrant. I loved it. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2040.” 92 pts, Vinous 347201 $80
