“The 2020 Lespault-Martillac is a gorgeous, effusive wine. Succulent dark plum, blood orange, menthol, licorice, mocha and blood orange all flesh out in this ample, beautifully resonant Graves. All the elements are so well-balanced. Plush contours and silky tannins add to its immense charm. What a beautiful wine this is. The aromatics are especially on point. Tasted two times. Silky, aromatic and nuanced, Lilian Ladouys presents a profile redolent of red fruit, cedar, spice and crushed flowers. This mid- weight Saint-Estèphe is just gorgeous. Le Lion de La Fleur de Boüard, Pomerol “Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Le Lion storms out of the glass with bold notes of baked black plums, blackberry pie and boysenberries, plus suggestions of dried Provence herbs, pencil shavings and unsmoked cigars. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers taut, muscular black fruits with a firm frame of grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy. Château Malartic-Lagravière, Pessac‑Léognan “Coming in at close to equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2020 Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere is another brilliant 2020 Pessac- Leognan with loads to offer. Expressive notes of red and black fruit, sweet tobacco, lead pencil, and camphor all emerge on the nose, and it’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a forward, seamless, sexy profile that already offers pleasure. The tannins are present yet integrated and perfectly ripe, it’s balanced, and I suspect it will evolve for a solid two decades or more. Tasted twice.
