52. Château La Garde, Pessac‑Léognan “Pretty dark berry, toasted oak and chocolate with some stone character. Medium body, round and lightly chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Fine tannins all the same. Shows intensity.” 92 pts, James Suckling 371768 $58 53. Château Gloria, St-Julien “This is poised and elegant with notes of bitter chocolate, crushed walnuts, black peppercorns, blackberries and blackcurrants. It’s medium-bodied with silky tannins and layers of fresh black fruit. $100 54. Château Grand Corbin-Despagne, St-Émilion Grand Cru “The 2020 Grand Corbin Despagne is fabulous. Rich, dark and ample, the 2020 possesses off the charts richness and tons of intensity. Blackberry jam, crème de cassis, cloves, lavender and chocolate all build in this sumptuous, full-bodied Saint-Émilion. This is beautifully done in every way. Impressive. Drinking Window: 2028 - 2050.” 95 pts, Vinous 362421 $85 55. Château Grand Mayne, St-Émilion Grand Cru Classy. Try from 2026.” 94 pts, James Suckling 357752 “I loved the 2020 Chateau Grand Mayne. This medium to full-bodied, concentrated, incredibly satisfying Saint-Emilion offers up ample mulled red and black fruits, some loamy earth, iron, and dried flower nuances, ripe tannins, and plenty of mid-palate depth. I still think the 2015 is the top vintage, but this is clearly in the same league as the 2015, 2018, and 2019, and it’s going to drink brilliantly over the coming 15-20 years. Best After 2023.” 94 pts, Jeb Dunnuck 381861 $100
