Vins Rouges
138 Château Pape Clément, Pessac‑Léognan
“A very well-balanced Pape Clement showing a solid structure, concentration and length. Fresh and complex, with a fine streak of minerals and aromas of cassis, berries, white pepper and tapenade. Some wood spices, but they’re quite restrained. Full-bodied, tight and long. A transparent and complete wine for the cellar. Try after 2028.” 97 pts, James Suckling 364180 $225 St‑Émilion Grand Cru (L) “A mixture of dried herbs, blackcurrant leaf, blueberry, violets, vanilla and salty stones on the nose. Intense and complex, it’s upfront and mouth-filling with chewy, fleshy tannins but lifted by vibrant acidity. Controlled power, pure fruit focus, and a joyful, crunchy texture. Salty spice, liquorice, black chocolate, and clove add depth to the finish. A charming, structured wine, full of promise.” 97 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 272852 6 bottle limit $900 “Strong aromatics of dried herbs, blackcurrant leaf, violets, cherries and chocolate. Fleshy and ripe in the mouth with both a sweet, sour and cool aspect to the juicy strawberry acidity that makes this so moreish and zingy in the mouth. Energetic and dynamic, concentrated and streamlined, there’s so much to like here with really tasty terroir markers of wet stones, graphite and pencil lead. No sign of heat or overt oak which makes this even more enjoyable right now but this will also age excellently. Extremely classy and packed full of flavour.” 97 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 332952 $225
