Bordeaux 2022 Release

Vins Rouges

121 Château Léoville-Poyferré, St‑Julien

“Highly concentrated and deep on the palate, this extends vertically from the beginning with layers of fleshy blackcurrant, super juicy cherries and salty stones. I love the feeling in the mouth, it’s still got some sticky liquorice spice that edges the tannins, but this feels confident and showy. I like the force - it’s taking the power of the vintage but edging the glamorous side with elegance and precision. Chewy and totally moreish. Great work. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend.” 96 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 272644 $275 “Quite a heady nose, one of the more opulent in terms of fragrance and sun-kissed fruit. The palate is concentrated and rich in terms of fleshy fruit but has such a wonderful cushion of acidity that lifts the frame and keeps the energy. I love the fine, salty tannins with both mint, clove and liquorice elements. It’s not so open right now - maintains quite a streamlined frame, but the individual elements are really well presented with power and poise. Ends with plum, blackcurrant, black pepper and tobacco touches.” 95 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 272664 $95
