Château Latour à Pomerol, Pomerol

“Intense aromatics on the nose. This is smooth and succulent but also tense and straight. Tannins have a soft fleshiness to them that comes across as slightly chalky on the palate with edges of heat, toast, clove and cedar spice that just detract slightly from the clarity of the fruit which is dark and focused on blackcurrant and prune with an undercurrent of cooling mint. It’s serious in terms of flavours but has a finessed texture. One that feels extremely young and not yet quite settled. Power is undeniable alongside some Pomerol seduction so when the flavours meld a little more this will be lovely.” 95 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 328479 $175

118 Château Latour-Martillac, Pessac‑Léognan

“A youthfully compact style, with its core of red and black currant preserves sitting behind a mix of warm tar, alder and chestnut. Dark tobacco and leather notes stretch out on the finish and add a textural element, while the fruit keeps pace. Solid. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2027 through 2040.” 94 pts, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 272594 $90

119 Château Leoville Barton, St‑Julien (L)

“The 2022 Léoville Barton is performing brilliantly in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, pen ink, cigar box and spices. Medium to full-bodied, suave and velvety, it’s dense and concentrated, with terrific energy and persistence. ” 97+ pts, William Kelley, Wine Advocate 332902, 364051 6 bottle limit $220
