Figeac (100 pts WA and Decanter ) and Carmes-Haut Brion (100pts by WA, Decanter and Vinous ). The overall strength and consistent quality of the vintage means that customers have a range of price bands from which to choose. Châteaux du Taillan, Verdignan and Ferran all offer good value under $50 and could be fun choices if you are just starting to build a wine cellar. These will benefit from 2-5 years in bottle, whereas more age worthy selections like Château Pontet-Canet and Clos Fourtet will develop beautifully over the next decade. The intensity of the heat in 2022 means that whites are opulent and flavourful. Most are delicious now and will provide pleasure for the next 5 years. In addition to classics like Château Pape-Clement and Château Smith Haut Lafitte, there are rare and special treats like Aile d’Argent and Blanc de Lynch Bages. The Sauternes this year are gorgeous and concentrated; one of the favourites of the Product Consultants is Château Coutet with dense peach, tropical citrus and sweet herbal notes. To celebrate the anniversary of the Release as well as the longevity of fine Bordeaux, we have sourced an exclusive selection of 1982s. The 1982 wines were purchased directly from Bordeaux where they have been aging to perfection for over 40 years. Châteaux Lagrange, Beychevelle, Cos d’Estournel and Lafite-Rothschild are among the 1982s that will be available in tiny quantities. While these iconic wines will continue to hold for several years, they are stunning to drink now. Look for a combination of tertiary (coffee, earth, spice, licorice and cedar) to complement the black fruits that you know and love from Bordeaux. Factors have combined to make this one of the most exciting wine releases BC LIQUOR has ever done.
