Château Bel-Air Jean & Gabriel, Lussac-Saint-Émilion “Notably less oaky, the 2022 Cuvée Jean & Gabriel from Château Bel-Air reveals a deep, complex bouquet of spices, smoke, licorice and oak mingled with notes of dark berries. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and generously extracted, it has a fleshy core of fruit wrapped in an assertive tannic frame that finishes long and spicy. Allow it some time to integrate its élevage; ideally, keep it in the cellar for one to two years before opening.” 90 pts, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate 372766 $45

Château Bélair-Monange, St‑Émilion Grand Cru
“A smoky nose filled with aromatic blackcurrants, violets, dark chocolate, vanilla cream and clove. Deep, layered and cooling, this is a gentle giant - you can feel the waves of power and the depth of flavour but it’s so calm and controlled. Wonderfully finessed tannins, pure black bramble fruit and appealing crushed stone elements. Extremely classy, this feels so well executed, a restrained hand in terms of winemaking and oak given the integration of the tannins and beautiful cool and fresh tones from start to finish. Less overt acidity than some, this really focuses on the construction and layering of elements. Serious but seductive. A sophisticated wine that belies the vintage conditions.” 98 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 328524 $375 Château Belgrave, Haut-Médoc “Strongly scented with florals and dark purple fruit. Glossy and ripe, its fruit pulsing with energy. Juicy acidity and stony minerality add depth and tension. Nuanced, vibrant and expressive, extending vertically with precision and finesse. A really delicious wine that’s fresh and full of personality while still having a powerful backbone.” 95 pts, Georgina Hindle, Decanter 372795 $70
