178. L’Esprit de Chevalier Blanc, Pessac‑Léognan
“Matured for nine months in barrels, the 2021 L’Esprit de Chevalier Blanc possesses a floral, elegant bouquet with aromas of verbena, lime tree leaves, spring flowers, pear and peach intertwined with nutmeg hints. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and juicy, it’s seamless and broad, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. It’s tenser and more vibrant than the 2022 counterpart.” Drink 2023 - 2030 91 pts, Wine Advocate 434148 $65 179. Château Ferran Blanc, Pessac‑Léognan “The 2021 Ferran Blanc has a light nose with apple blossom, chalk and touches of white peach. The palate is well-balanced with crisp acidity, quite malic in style and delicious: peach skin, hints of chamomile and mango. This is well worth seeking out and in a different league to the red.” Drink 2025 - 2035 91 pts, Vinous 435851 $45 180. Château de Fieuzal Blanc, Pessac‑Léognan “The 2021 Blanc is turning out beautifully, evoking aromas of mint, spices, peach, lemon oil and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced, it’s tense and fleshy, crystalline and seamless, with a fresh, saline and pure finish. It feels reassuringly persistent and could age well over the next two decades. This outstanding wine is crafted from 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sémillon.” Drink 2023 - 2040 95+ pts, Wine Advocate 411973, 425450 $120 181. Château de France Blanc, Pessac‑Léognan “Fresh, floral and so clear on the nose - a lovely purity which continues on the palate. The fruit has a crystalline nature as well as a softly sweet sucrosity giving both a gently unctuous texture and fresh appeal. This has body as well as being lively in the mouth with lemon zest, peach and pineapple tones. Mineral undertones come in on the finish, adding another layer of flavour nuance and complexity. I really like the purity of elements here. Confident.” Drink 2023 - 2032 92 pts, Decanter 435756 $50
