153. Château Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux (L) “The 2021 Rauzan-Ségla is impressive. Dark, somber and brooding, the 2021 offers up a heady concoction of black cherry, plum, graphite, new leather, scorched earth, game and tar, all amplified in a dramatic, super- classic Margaux. I would not dream of touching a bottle anytime soon. I loved this en primeur , and I love it just as much today. Elevage made all the difference here. Tasted three times.” Drink 2031 - 2051 97 pts, Vinous 450133 6 bottle limit $225 154. Château Reynon, Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux “The 2023 Reynon is a terrific entry-level offering from the Dubourdieu family. Crushed red berry fruit, spice, pomegranate, menthol and blood orange are nicely pushed forward. All the elements are so well balanced. Reynon is consistently delicious and also a great value. I would be very happy to own a case of this.” Drink 2025 - 2033 89-91 pts, Vinous 434236 $40 155. Château Rouget, Pomerol “Concentrated blackcurrant and black cherries on the nose. Nicely textured, this has some grip to the tannins and a little bit of a plush, salty, crushed stone texture ot the palate. Still needs some time, but this has energy and some juicy, fun aspects. Salty, tangy and stony. I like this. Not trying too hard. Has a long length and good potential. In organic conversion.” Drink 2025 - 2045 93 pts, Decanter 412426 $120 156. Château Saint-Pierre, St‑Julien “The 2021 Saint-Pierre offers up an exotic bouquet of sweet cassis, plums, spices and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it’s unusually rich and opulent for the vintage, with a broad attack, polished tannins and a creamy, oak-inflected finish. This classy Saint-Julien will offer a broad drinking window.” Drink 2025 - 2040 91 pts, Wine Advocate 324635, 450695 $145
