87. Château Gruaud-Larose, St‑Julien (L) “Scented nose full of cedar, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, blackcurrant and floral fragrance. Light and lean, but full of flavour, the fruit dances across the palate while the relatively tight but fine tannins give structure. Great acidity and lovely elements of sour cherries, fresh- picked blackcurrants and crushed strawberries with an underlying mineral, slightly salty tang. Delicious.” Drink 2026 - 2045 95 pts, Decanter 450622 6 bottle limit $180 88. Château Haut‑Bages Libéral, Pauillac “Almost pure Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has very fine, sophisticated black-currant aromas, followed by dark tannins on the palate. It’s fine acidity is reflected in the rich flavors that are structured with a rounded aftertaste. Drink from 2028. Organic.” 94 pts, Wine Enthusiast 434157 $95 89. Château Haut‑Bailly, Pessac‑Léognan (L) “The 2021 Haut‑Bailly is incredibly poised, even if it is clearly a wine of reserve in this vintage. Its vertical build speaks of pure sophistication. Time in the glass brings out hints of dried herbs, menthol, licorice, pine, blackberry and underbrush. Most of the blend is Cabernet, so the flavor profile and overall structural feel is quite savory. I can’t wait to see how the 2021 ages. It may very well surprise down the road.” Drink 2031 - 2061 $275 90. Château Haut‑Batailley, Pauillac (L) “The wine’s freshness is impressive both in the aroma and flavors. It is rich while also refined and structured. Tannins and blackberry abound in equal quantities. Drink from 2028.” 94 pts, Wine Enthusiast 450089 6 bottle limit $145 96 pts, Vinous 411981, 425526 6 bottle limit
