72. Château Fleur Cardinale, St-Émilion Grand Cru “Succulent and juicy straight away, this has a little party in your mouth giving the chalky strawberry, perfumed blackcurrant, dark chocolate, liquorice and pencil lead all together - bringing a ton of fruit, spice and acidity with thrilling results. You get a touch of austerity still, the minerality and salinity on the tongue but I love the expression here. Feels well worked, all in harmony with such precision on show. Pure class with a seductive core, gentle frame but intense concentration. Super long finish. The Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot really add that extra touch of deliciousness and intrigue. The star for me in the very impressive Moueix lineup this year.” Drink 2027 - 2050 94 pts, Decanter 450219 $95 73. Château La Fleur-Pétrus, Pomerol (L) “The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus has realized all the potential it showed in barrel and stands out as a real success on the Right Bank. Wafting from the glass with notes of cherries, dark berries, licorice, anise, violets and baking chocolate, it’s medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a velvety attack that segues into a suave, seamless mid- palate that exhibits good depth and concentration.” Drink 2025 - 2045 96 pts, Decanter 435741 6 bottle limit $480 74. Château de France, Pessac‑Léognan “Fully aromatic on the nose, perfume and ripe fruits, so appealing, really jumping out of the glass. Succulent with clarity and precision - the fruit and overall texture feels clean and tongue-scraping, with the stone and graphite elements coming through and lifting the palate away from the fruit flavours. This has real tension and focus as well as weight on the mid-palate from the plush fruit, but it’s the cooling, terroir elements to the fore right now with integrated tannins and barely-there spicing. Lovely structure and persistence. Delicious. Michel Rolland consultancy.” Drink 2025 - 2039 92 pts, Decanter 435753 $50
